After driving while holding a cell phone is outlawed, are there any other things we can’t hold while driving?

kentucky fried chicken
paul h asked:

A cup of coffee? A map? Your wife on her cell phone and talking in your ear? A bucket of Kentucky Fried chicken? And what’s the fine if you get pulled over? ( I’m getting a hands-free phone for safety reasons. I get it.) But is there hands free chicken holders when my wife is not in my truck? Or should I throw my phone into the bucket of chicken?

I get what you’re trying to say, but if you honestly have to do that many things while driving then I don’t want you on the road with me anyway.

And, for the record, having eaten while driving a time or two and having talked on the phone a time or two, they’re completely different. Eating is instinctive and doesn’t require half as much thought as carrying on a conversation, holding a phone to your ear, and worrying about losing your signal- then redialing the number when it happens.

People lived for centuries without cell phones. Mine stays shut off the majority of the time. If whatever they’ve got to tell me is so important, they can come find me. Otherwise, they can wait until I’m not driving and endangering other people.

lol. that was funny. my personal opinion is you shouldnt drive with anything that will distract you for YOUR OWN safety. Especially if there are other passengers. i dont think food would distract much,(unless you constantly have to look at it or something) so i’m pretty sure it will still be legal to eat a cheeseburger in your car.

Driving is a privilege, not a right, and if you choose to do it, you will do it the way the state tells you to. When they gave you your license to drive a motor vehicle, they told you that you should have your hands at 10 and 2 on the steering wheel and be watching the road.

There are cup holders, navigation systems, hands free bluetooth wireless radio-station changers… the cars can basically do all this stuff you’re not even supposed to be doing by themselves. With all that going on, and your wife yammering in your ear, why do you need to be eating a bucket of chicken while driving?
