any substitute for egg wash in ‘fried chicken’ recipe?

fried chicken
mona s asked:

i have a recipe that calls to mix the batter mix with egg and then dip the chicken in this batter to fry. i dont have any eggs so i was wondering if i could substitute anything. i think the egg is used to keep the batter to stick on the chicken or something those lines.
