Of course no. Don't be ridiculous. This is only required for Catholics and even then some may slip up and forget---should one do it on purpose they need only go to confession if they repent but they should certainly stay away from the Sacrament of Holy Communion until they do repent.

Well, Catholic people during lent, sometimes eat meat. Fish doesn't count as meat.. Even during lent. I don't know why, but it doesn't. They do this to give something up that means something to them, such as God did when he fasted for 40 days and 40 nights. No, I don't think in my opinion that you should be punished, because you can't handle what God did. He did it to show his power, and that he can do anything, because he is God; and that he won't give into bodily temptation such as we do.

Sentinel got it right! God thought wants not sacrafices of meat of animals anymore, he wants a sacrafice of praise that comes from public declaration to the testimony and ministry of Jesus Christ. Hebrews 13:15

Show me in the new testament where it says you cannot eat meat on Fridays then I will say it is a sin...until then. Eat whatever you want. God made all the meat and it is all good to eat. Don't blindly follow a priest or a preacher. Look for truth in the scriptures. Most catholic teachings are not actually found in the Bible anyway.

Since almost every dispensation is invisible and also because this is not a matter for excommunication -- No.

I hope you don't really want to do that. You would be what the nuns used to call a 'Judas'. You don't want to be that.

Most Catholics think that Vatican II did away with the requirement of not eating meat on any Friday of the year. Most think it is now just Ash Wednesday and the Fridays of Lent that we cannot eat meat.

This is what the new Code of Canon Law brought out in 1983 says about the matter:

Canon 1251
Abstinence from meat, or from some other food as determined by the Episcopal Conference, is to be observed on all Fridays, unless a solemnity should fall on a Friday. Abstinence and fasting are to be observed on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday.
Canon Law still requires that Catholics not eat meat on Fridays!

Of course, most Episcopal Conferences have determined that, instead of abstaining from meat, Catholics may perform an act of penance of their choosing. But, do you ever remember to abstain from a particular food or do some other penance on Fridays? And, at any rate, the main rule is still to abstain from meat on Fridays, the performance of another penance instead is an optional alternative.

It's very interesting to note that the National Conference of Catholic Bishops (the United States' Episcopal Conference) is currently debating whether to rescind the determination and require all Catholics to abstain from meat on all Fridays of the year. The Bishops are considering that a return to meatless Fridays for all Catholics would be of benefit because:

It is an expression of one's Catholicity; and
In reparation for the grave sin of abortion.
