Try printing out a resume and going to places of interest and just ask if they are hiring for the summer.

Either go in and ask for an application, a lot of places have applications available that you can just fill out. Or write a script before you start making phone calls. I know that might sound a little silly, but if you write out what you want to say before you call you can figure out the words that you want to use and it can help you to stay relaxed. When I’ve had to record outgoing messages for the various voice mailboxes for my job I usually write out a script of what I want to say.

Good luck with the job hunt!!

Don’t call, go to the place you want work. Dress nice (not super dressed up but no jeans or shorts). Ask for an application. Fill it out. Ask for the manager and give it to him/her. Also if it is a restaurant, if it even looks a little busy don’t ask for the manager. Wait or come back a different day. The best time is between 2:30-5
