You don’t need a protest permit! Read the first amendment- freedom of assembly- which means you can protest anything you want as long as you are doing it peacefully and not being violent.

I protested a time or 2 all you have to do is stay on public property and dont harass them verbally or physically.

I’d suggest contacting the police department (or sheriff, if applicable) of the town where you plan to protest, explain that you wish to organize or participate in a protest there, and ask them about any special permits that you might need.
Make sure to note the date and time of your contact, as well as the name of the person answering your questions.
