Is it just me, or are there others out there who share the same sentiment? More importantly, how do I get KFC Taiwan to listen? I have given them my comments twice before but never got one single reply. It’s my hunch that maybe I contacted the wrong window?
Btw, what’s the KFC like in other countries?
Thanks,
Mad For Fried Chicken
Alex, the least KFC could do is give it a trial run, and see how it goes.
Chris, I don’t eat KFC everyday, so please calm down. (^_^)
Wendy’s, thanks for the offer. I just hope when it gets here, maggots have not already begun ahead of me.
Druids, I should have addressed you earlier. For the side dishes, KFCT only have salad with the usual dressings of Caesar’s, Thousand Islands, and the Japanese Dressing. They also have bisquits, which must be the cousin of scones because they look almost the same, but with bisquits it’s golden fried (I think.) Corn is also a mainstay in the menu. Mexican rolls have also become popular recently. For desserts, it’s tarts, tarts and tarts, and they come in many flavors!!
* Unfortunately with the bisquits, you can’t eat more than one, because they clog in the throat with all that raspy oil. I wonder if I’m the only who ever experienced this?? As for the salads, they change it now & then, and it’s mostly satisfactory, along with the steamed corn. Now the Mexican Rolls, there’s nothing remarkable about them. I’m sure many people here will agree. That’s about it.
Wakaiivp, you told me before that you’re in the Emirates, care to share what makes the Kentucky there “damn good”?
Beautiful Blue Sky, thanks for the input, and maybe you’re right. Maybe I am looking at the other side of the fence….. Actually, it’s not that I don’t appreciate Taiwanese cuisine, it’s just that I miss the flavors of KFC Phils.. Btw, when you order a chicken meal in Korea, do they automatically give you the spicy or the original? Here, they automatically give you the spicy.

KFC Taiwan *****.
go to McDicks!
Their fried stuff is about the same as KFC and their market share is larger (so far)
I like the McD’s in Taiwan more than N. America’s. You can get a kind of salad there. But no gravy… sigh.
Actually other than foreign specialist type places there is no gravy to be found here… AAAAGH.
–edit re your Question-
You can find gravy not with chicken but with Turkey- served up homestyle at Xmas and Easter and Thanksgiving from the major hotels, the Evergreen, Landis and a few others.
Here in Taichung, at least its possible to get your hands on it for THOSE particular occasions.
Finga’s does serve up a turkey/gravy combo for those times as well, as does ‘Uncle Jimmy’s’
Usually you are looking at a 2000-2500NT price tag per turkey. the good news is you share it with 4-8 friends.
Likely the branches in Taipei will offer the same services. Going in for a Sunday brunch you can try your luck…
I had a pretty good baked chicken with a ‘gravy-ish’ sauce mixed with lemon at the Landis a couple weeks back. I can not remember the name but likely it was Thai style and not western style…
Gravy in Taiwan seems to be a purely seasonal thing. (which probably is for the best for our heart health anyways LOL)
If you are handy with an axe and enjoy cleaning up your meat personally… ?… I have seen turkeys wandering around in the deep mountain farm areas near the road. You probably should ask the farmer and pay for the Hwo-Jii (fire chicken- direct translation) before you get all Jason Vorhees on its ***.
The bad news I got Rob, is I havn’t seen chicken with real gravy at all. Period. Sigh. Fried chicken is easy to find anywhere though, its practically the national staple food. LOL.
I would join you on the gravy train, but for the fact I dont really want it too much myself anyways beyond the special occasions I quite frankly dont care enough to write a letter myself. But by all means- speak to the management at KFC and write letters to their head office about this travesty of mishandled market opportunity.
The day the average Taiwanese turns up his nose at animal drippings is the day we all become vegan buddhists. From what I have seen Joe Taiwan wants his tasty blood puddings and by gosh, animal drippings mixed with flour are great for us ALL! I doubt gravy would be anything they would cringe at.
LOL!

I’m not sure whether taiwanese want to eat coleslaw, macaroni salad, potato salad……. So KFC won’t sell them, no profit, man.

All American chain fastfood restaurants are bad for your health! How do I get you to listen?
9:17 am - May 23rd, 2009
They have differnt idea of KFC. Why do you care so much like that? Do you think they will enjoy that great gravy stuff in Taiwan? Look out side of KFC. and see what they eat and enjoy!
Even Mc donalds are not the same from other country. It must be also differnt what you used to have in your country or Philippine.
I’ll answer your 1 question. KFC in Korea have coleslaw, corn sald and bisket. And other stuff like chicken burger and mexican styled tottia roll. They also don’t have potato salad and “that wonderful” gravy thing.
I guess you need to wait till you go back where you had it.
I really really like coleslaw too. It must be frustraiting situation that you can’t get things you like.
BTW, oh. I do like Fried Chicken too.

It’s unlikely they will do anything unless enough patrons or consumers request the same items on the menu as you do.
It’s a fact of life and business as usual.
