If someone could send a sample of KFC ’s breading to a lab could the “secret recipe” be detected?

Jason P asked:

With today’s technology I would we could send it to some science lab and discover the 11 herbs and spices.

But what would be the fun in knowing what the recipe is?

Yeah but I bet KFC would sue and/or kill the people involved in finding out the recipe.

In the book “Big Secrets” by William Poundstone, he did this. Once the lab knew it was KFC batter, they would not analyze it.
A less scrupulous lab did give some ingredients - it was no where near 11 and the BIG ingredient was salt.

it might be possible but I believe that it could give false readings as there could be some degeneration or denaturing of some of the ’secret’ molecules during the frying process.

I doubt it–I think it has something to do with soaking the chicken in a sink with three, teen-aged mostly-naked girls….at least Jay Leno seemed to think so during his monologue tonight!
