When I was in Ruse, Bulgaria a few years ago the McDonalds there sold chinese food. I was told that because they say even over there McDonalds has a certain standard for their meat and won’t sell if they can’t get that.
I thought, how hard could it be to get a bunch of frozen fat patties over there?
    Oh, well.

They sell fried chicken (under the McD’s name), but not KFC.

Beside McNuggets McD has also fried chicken burgers, a fried chicken roll and fried chicken pieces (mid joints and drum sticks).

They do not sell KFC products, but they clearly target KFC customers.

You can see it all on their website.

No, McDonalds and KFC are separate restaurants in China, but due to the overwhelming popularity of KFC here (far more popular than McDonalds), Mickey-D’s has a different menu, trying to appeal more to Chinese taste. I’m thinking the reason you heard this rumor is because they do sell far more varieties chicken sandwiches at Chinese McDonalds, and they even sell chicken in pieces, similarly to KFC.

Still, the KFC chicken is way better than McDonalds. KFC still does not serve any beef, and it’s funny to watch Chinese people try to order beef at KFC — so at least McDonalds still has a corner on that.

By the way, the reason KFC is so popular in China is because the Colonel’s secret chicken recipe calls for MSG - a staple of Chinese food.
