supposedly KFC is genetically engineered, so it’s not like you’re eating something that had a soul.

if we don’t eat KFC we’ll have an army of mutated, soulless chickens running around…..and one liberal party is enough.

I think my parents were aware I didn’t really like eating meat. I just didn’t like the taste. They were used to me being a picky eater so it didn’t bother them.

As long as you can get the nutrients you need and it’s not affecting your health, there’s nothing wrong with being a vegetarian. Have you decided what type you want to be? There are lacto-ovo (dairy and eggs) vegetarians, lacto (dairy, no eggs) vegetarians, ovo vegetarians (eggs, no dairy), and vegans (no eggs, no dairy, and pretty much a whole lifestyle). Whichever you choose, make sure you eat plenty of veggies, fruits, and grains; drink lots of water; exercise regularly; get plenty of sleep; and take a multivitamin because you might be missing key nutrients. You can eat with your parents but not eat what they’re eating. Do the research and explain to them your choice. Hopefully they accept your decision even if they don’t agree.

I was in the same situation as you, I admitted to being vegan and my mum spat in my face, my dad then beat me to a bloody pulp and locked me in the cellar for 2 days. He then poured gravy all over me and I was getting bits of beef in my mouth, oh the torture

Don’t worry, they won’t mail a bunch of junk mail to your house or anything.
Seriously think about it, you won’t miss meat that much. Fattening, cruel, meat. It’s gross in everyway.

If you need to convince your mom, make her watch some of the gruesome videos on Go Veg’s website. It’s so sad what they do to the cows. T.T Even the fish! But the most poorly treated of all, are the poultry.

ok, to the girl above me. if we didn’t eat meat they would not over populate the world….we grow cows and chickens for our consumption….goodness. as for you, i just wouldn’t eat any meat. they cant MAKE you, i mean, have a pb&j if they want to be stupid about it. tell them your reasons, and if they don’t understand, give them time. maybe go to the grocery store with your mom and pick out some meat substitutes that are easy to make. the morning star pizza burgers and ginger taryiaki cakes are very good and simple to make in the oven for ten minutes. my parents didn’t care, they called me weird a little, but never made me eat meat. i started my no red meat, then excluded chicken. now i make all my own meals just about…but its not hard i have a lot of ten minute meals that are soo good. email if you want any recipes or further advice : )

I still don’t think my mother accepts that I’m a vegetarian, and I’ve been one for 5 years. I’m a grown woman but she doesn’t get it. It’s frustrating sometimes that some people can get mad at you for not wanting to eat anything made by killing an animal.

Just this morning my brother started yelling at me because I wouldn’t try a piece of Jarlsburg that was made with rennet. So he threw the piece of cheese across the room and yelled at me. Hehe.

Anyway. It shouldn’t matter that they think. It’s your decision and if they can’t handle it, well then nuts to them. Your mother won’t let you starve, so I’m sure she’ll buy and make things that you can eat, even if she disagrees with it.

i suggest giving them the silent treatment, and maybe buying your own food. my mom was supportive of me, but seemed annoyed. eventually i went back to carni. because of my anemia.

good for you for going veggie.
my parents went veggie after me and my sister refused to eat meat. it took awhile, but it was worth it.
you are doing the right thing. don’t let anyone discourage you!

My whole family is vegetarian and thats good for me.
Tell your mom about how beign vegetarian is more compassionate and tell all the good things about it, such as the health and the animals.
