Someone else asked this question a little while ago. My guess would be because KFC is southern food and Sweet home Alabama is a southern song.

Why is a commercial jingle for mobile homes, even though it was redone quite well, such a universally known rock song? Also, the company changed its name ages ago. It’s just KFC now, so its Kentucky ties are limited.

KFC was made in Kentucky! They shouldn’t have Sweet Home Alabama, but I assume they use it because that song is known by many and it is attract more!
