this is a dumb question, and I know you will laugh and while it is?

kentucky fried chicken
helpme1 asked:

a bit on the funny side, I am serious too.
Why is it that when you go to Kentucky Fried Chicken buffet, you have to go up and ASK for another plate? Why is it that they just dont’ keep them on the counter so customers can pick up their own? Are they afriad of someone taking off with those valuable PAPER plates that they hand out?
I’ve been to Chinese buffets where they give you REAL plates and let you get your own?
Is there gold is those PAPER plates? Is that why KFC doesn’t want you to get your own?
I know it’s a funny question but I am serious too.
So laugh if you want, but answer if you can.

it is silly, but there are a lot of crooked people out there.

since KFC is not only a buffet, there are customers standing around waiting for their orders- who could ( technically ) help themselves to a buffet they didn’t pay for.

it is also a food cost incentive, because many people will stop eating after one plate, vs. going back up.

Where I live, In Illinois, it is against food regulations to re-use plates at a buffet. Think about it. The spoon usually touches the plate, if someone just ate from it, their germs are shared on the communal spoon.

Maybe that’s why I’ve never seen a KFC buffet.

in a business like that, they don’t want you going for more so they make it a hassle.also fast food places can actually start to loose money if they hand out too many condiments or napkins and /or plates. they have to watch the pennies and the dollars will take care of themselves

Because they want to be ****** about it and make customers ask for more plates, I guess

The plates are placed in a sanitary area, on the counter flies can get on it, they are the only insects food service places cannot control, so they have to keep them in a covered area.
Some KFC places are also combined with Pizza Hut or Taco Bell, and some of them have buffets too. ( Yum meat lovers thin and crispy, with a side of mashed potatoes and gravy)

They probably can’t monitor it well, so by giving you plate each time, they make sure you paid for the buffett.

Also, it probably discourages people from eating a lot from the buffett.
