actually the most simple ingredients are the best…. salt…some pepper powder…and coat them with a thin layer of flour and deep fried in high heated oil….till golden brown.

    buttermilk
    2 eggs, beaten with 4 T water
    flour, seasoned
    Crisco oil

Soak chicken in buttermilk for several hours.
Beat eggs and water ; dip chicken in the egg wash
Dip chicken pieces in seasoned flour. Shake off excess flour
Fry in hot Crisco… turn only once … until brown and crispy

    Drain on paper towels.

We like this cold as much as we like it hot.

Really easy, you can make it with a lot of different ingredients like spices, buttermilk, etc. so there is really no wrong way. Below is a very basic ( and one of the best) recipes!!

    GENUINE SOUTHERN FRIED CHICKEN

3 1/2 pounds chicken, cut up
    3 teaspoons salt, divided
    1/4 cup butter
    3/4 cup all-purpose flour
    1/2 teaspoon fresh ground pepper
    vegetable oil

Sprinkle chicken with 2 teaspoons salt. Place on platter, cover with wax paper and refrigerate 4 hours or overnight. Pour 1 inch oil into large, deep, heavy skillet. Add butter and heat over medium-high heat to 375 F.
Meanwhile, rinse chicken under cold water. Place flour, remaining 1 teaspoon salt and the pepper in paper bag; shake well. Add half the chicken; shake to coat well. Shake off excess flour. Repeat with remaining chicken. Add chicken to skillet in single layer so pieces do not touch. (If necessary, cook in batches. Keep cooked pieces warm in 200 F. oven.) Cook until evenly golden brown on both sides, turning once, about 15 minutes. Drain well on paper towels. Serve hot.

I will give you my favorite chicken recipe.
Package of chicken breast, boned and skinned,
    Crisco shortening, no oil.
    Skillet with lid
    Two eggs beaten,in a bowl.
Self rising flour about 4 cups in a bowl.
    Wash chicken and drain.
Dip chicken in egg mixture, and roll in flower until coated. have shortening in skillet getting warm ,on med.
Place chicken in skillet of shortening and arrange until the skillet is full. Put lid on and cook until golden brown on bottom . Take off lid and turn all pieces, over to brown the other side.
Cover a tray with two or three paper towels, When all the chicken is brown take up on the tray.
And dig in ,you can use pepper or salt to taste.
