I think this is crazy. They published their nutrition facts if people made the choice it was their choice and their issue.

If you only eat high fat, high cholestrol food, then you reap what you sow. Suing fast food restaurants is ridiculous.

Its like the crazy people who wanted to sue McDonalds because their kids got fat. Heeellllllloooooo people NOBODY is forcing you to eat this food. They don’t want to take responsibility for their own actions, so its easier to sue a corporation then blame themseleves.

You choose to eat it, so its your own risk. Just like driunking beer, or getting into a car, or walking down the sidewalk. You should assume the risk for the activites you undertake.

KFC gets burned for using unhealthy fat
A consumer group is suing the operator of the KFC to try to stop it from frying foods in an artery-clogging trans fat.
    June 13, 2006: 10:56 AM EDT

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A U.S. consumer group sued the operator of the KFC fried chicken restaurant chain on Tuesday to try and force it to stop it from frying foods in an artery-clogging fat.

The Center for Science in the Public Interest, in a suit filed against Yum Brands Inc. (down $0.28 to $50.21, Research) in the Superior Court for the District of Columbia, said some KFC meals were “startlingly” high in artery-clogging trans fat from the partially hydrogenated oils used for frying.

CSPI Executive Director Michael Jacobson said it was harder to avoid trans fat at KFC than at other fast-food restaurants.

“Trans fat is almost everywhere on this menu. By frying in such a dangerous oil, KFC is making its unsuspecting consumers’ arteries Extra Crispy,” he said, referring to a version of fried chicken sold by KFC.

The suit seeks to force the KFC chain to stop cooking with trans fat or prominently warn customers about the health hazard.

KFC “does not properly warn, disclose or even tell consumers that they are eating food items prepared with the worst oil available,” the group said in a legal complaint.

The group asked the court to switch to a healthier frying oil. If that is ruled out, the group asked the court to require signs at KFC outlets saying “KFC fried chicken and certain other foods contain trans fat, which promotes heart disease.”

A KFC spokeswoman was not immediately available for comment.

CSPI said a typical three-piece combo meal with an Extra Crispy chicken drumstick, two Extra Crispy thighs, potato wedges and a biscuit contained 15 grams of trans fat.

Health experts suggest minimizing trans fat consumption as much as possible. Research shows it raises LDL or “bad” cholesterol while lowering HDL, the “good” cholesterol.

Last week, No. 3 U.S. burger chain Wendy’s International Inc. (Research) said it would significantly cut trans fat from its menu by switching to a new blend of corn and soy oil for french fries and breaded chicken items. McDonald’s Corp. (Research) vowed in 2002 to remove trans fat from its french fries in the United States but has not done so.

Yum Brands, based in Louisville, Kentucky, also operates the Pizza Hut and Taco Bell fast-food chains.

I think it is the most retarted thing EVER. How sick is it that we are too lazy to stop eating fried chicken, and when we end up having heart problems, we have to put the blame on someone else.

Assinine people who can’t take responsibility for their own actions. A lawsuit would be appropriate if the KFC people dragged them into the restaurant, held a gun on them and forced them to eat the chicken.

People love to sue fast food joints.

Fried chicken clogs arteries?!?! NO DUH!

Coffee is hot and will burn your skin?!!? NO DUH!

Some people like to take the easy way out in life. Some people should become apart of the menu at these places.

i think its stupid. People have the choice to eat it or not. Its their fault for eatting it, not KFC’s fault. Its not like kfc shoved it down their throat. People are so stupid these days. They got clogged arteries because of their own stupidity and their own lazyness. They should have known this would happen over time. It amazes me the idiotic things people do on a daily basis. And this is one of them.

It’s crap. People know the risks, and it’s not like anyone’s force feeding them.

People have to stop using the fast food industry as the their scapegoat. The only cause of their obesity AND clogged arteries is the lack of that individuals self control.

Lawsuits like thoes should be thrown out of the courts. People are looking to be the victim and make a quick buck!

No one forced these people to eat there. It is fast food! Of course it will stick to your arteries! I love kfc! It is probably clogging up my arteries and I intend to go back! But at the end when I suffer a heart attack I have no one to blame but myself and the choices I make!

All this does is cost the taxpayers money and tie up the court system from the real lawsuits that should be filed!
