Who was the consumer that demanded Kentucky Fried Chicken take the tran fats out of their cooking oil ?

jgarcia8169 asked:

Why do they always say consumer demand as an excuse for changing how food is prepared.
Up to about 15 years ago.Popcorn sold in the theaters use to be cooked with coconut oil.It was delicious.Just about everybody looked forward to the popcorn because you could not get it at home. Then one day consumer demand said it was bad for us and somehow got the theaters to change the oil. Why ? Are we not living in a democracy where we have the freedom to choose what we eat and where.

The govt. is trying to get into every facet of people’s lives. Pretty soon you will have to get written permission to breathe oxygen from the atmosphere.

Because many people are now trying to cut trans fats out of their diet…due to the health risk…if you still want it you can add it. I don’t, and i can’t take it out of things that it is in…so consumer demand requests it by not buying things that are filled with trans fats.

With freedom comes responsibility. Vendors must be responsible in selling items that do not danger our health. When the low-fat craze swept America, Kentucky Fried Chicken changed its name to KFC… doesn’t sound so greasy that way. After we had the low-carb craze, it was ok to eat fried chicken….. however, now it must be fried in the right kind of oil. KFC is just keeping up with the times to make their product appealing to the masses and keep sales up.

I am sure its the same person/people that say eating McDonalds is what makes people fat, so they are suing them for their own lack of self control. Not that what we eat is our own personal responsibility right?

    I agree.

FIRST: Coconut oil is not bad for you. It looks like all the other trans fats, but it becomes liquid at 77 degrees F. The others remain solids even at body temperature!!! Coconut oil is healthy and makes foods amazingly delicious!!
I HAVE been in the kitchen of our local KFC to repair a gas leak. Every surface was covered with a thick white grease. It was like ice skating just trying to walk back there!! This was from grease evaporating out of the fryers and solidifying on every surface- even warm ovens!!! It stays thick even in your body and you cannot eliminate it! Consumer demand just means that word got out and even though they dropped fried from their name, sales dropped. Just as sales of buttered popcorn dropped when coconut oil got lumped in with other saturated fats.

It’s not A consumer. When a firm says they’re doing something because of consumer demand it means that their sales are dropping. A fall in profits is the only thing that will make businesses change what they do. These can be brought about by consumers voting with their feet. And this is why every time there is a change like this there’s always a big press announcement. Businesses like KFC don’t care about their customers. They care about their money coming into their cash registers. You should get used to that idea.

It is actually an excuse for the government. I do not smoke BUT they are regulating smoking…regulating our food…WHAT IS NEXT! I cannot deny that people that eat fast food in excess will benefit from this control BUT do you not think that it is the consumers responsibility to choose what they do and do not want to eat? Everyone knows fast food is bad for you. Soooo if you eat it you know before-hand that you are doing something unhealthy. Geez. Government.
