why do black people like fried chicken and watermelon?
Help Me asked:
Is this a genetic thing that black people have? I am guessing its a genetic thing from africa where they are craving the nutrients that only watermelon and fried chicken can offer. it doesnt make sense to me.

I don’t think ethinicity has anything to do with liking fried chicken and wathermelon. Who can resist a good golden brown fried chicken and juicy watermelon?

Cause it tastes good. Alot of chicken can be made at one time and itcan be served at all temperaures. Some of the best food I have had is “comfort food” that is made with whatever you have available to survive and from the south. Love it.

So, I guess you assume no white people ever go to KFC? I’m not black, and I like fried chicken. Most people, regardless of ethnicity, would like fried chicken. It just tastes good.As for watermelon, that’s good too. It’s sweet and watery. What you SHOULD be asking is: Why do Japanese people like sushi? And even more importantly, why the hell do Eskimos eat seal sh*t?

That’s just a stereotype. All people- regardless of their skin color, like all kinds of foods. I’m sure not ALL black people like fried chicken and watermelon and even if they did, people of all races enjoy fried chicken and watermelon, I know I do and I’m hispanic.

I think the more important question to be asking is, why do you like Apple Jacks? They don’t even taste like apple.

Easy….and this has nothing to do with racism.
The reason black people love chicken and watermelon as well as kool-aid is for socio-economic reasons. Watermelon is large cheap and requires no preparation to feed alot of people. Chicken is a very cheap form of protein/meat and kool-aid packages can be stretched to serve many people as well. All these foods are cheap and affordable to most minorities (blacks included). It is a fact of the USA that minorities earn less money and tend to have more children.

Fried chicken and watermelon are associated with African American culture because these foods are customary of southern rural culture. African Americans where formerly concentrated in the rural south but as African Americans have migrated to other regions of the county, they have carried these culinary traditions with them. Other foods that are considered customary in African American Culture, are southern favorites like fried giblets, chicken pot pie, fried cat fish fillet, pickled pig feet, black eyed peas with bacon, and hog mawls.
